ABOUT ANTARDRISTI NEPAL (AN)

We aim to prevent sexual abuse, empower survivors, end stigma around mental health, and assist survivors in their journey of recovery.

Antardristi Nepal (AN) is a legally registered non-governmental organization with the Social Welfare Council (SWC) under registration number 14392, established in 2003. Since its inception, AN has been dedicated to addressing the mental health challenges faced by sexually abused young women and children in Nepal. Our mission is to help survivors overcome the severe psychological trauma caused by rape and incest, guiding them toward recovery and reintegration.

In Nepal’s deeply patriarchal society, sexual abuse—particularly against women and children—often goes unnoticed, or worse, is normalized. Tragically, widespread abuse is a daily reality for countless Nepalese children. Women are frequently regarded as property or objects of desire, with respect for their autonomy rarely entering societal norms. This ingrained socialization has led to alarmingly high rates of rape and sexual abuse, which continue to go unchecked.

What exacerbates the problem is that victims are often blamed for the abuse they’ve suffered. Rather than receiving empathy or support, survivors are seen as the provocateurs, leading to discrimination and stigmatization. They are labeled impure, unworthy, and are ostracized by their communities.

At Antardristi Nepal, we are committed to giving young survivors a voice—and more importantly, a choice. Through our programs and support systems, we offer these individuals a path to a brighter, safer future, free from the cycles of shame and silence.
